After World War I, Germany was blamed for causing the war. World War Two began in September 1939 when Britain and France declared war on Germany following Germany's invasion of Poland. Although the outbreak of war was triggered by Germany's invasion of Poland, the causes of the war are more complex (Website). They had to pay war reparations and land was taken away from them. IN January 1933, Adolf Hitler became Chancellor. The instability created in Europe by the First World War (1914-18) set the stage for another international conflict–World War II–which broke out two decades later and would prove even more devastating. Rising to power in an economically and politically unstable Germany, Adolf Hitler and his National Socialist (Nazi Party) rearmed the nation and signed strategic treaties with Italy and Japan to further his ambitions of world domination. Hitler’s invasion of Poland in September 1939 drove Great Britain and France to declare war on Germany, and World War II had begun (Website 3). Secretly he was developing a army and weapons. Hitler launched his own expansionist drive with the annexation of Austria in March 1938. The way was clear: Mussolini supported him; and the British and French, overawed by German rearmament, accepted Hitler's claim that the status of Austria was an internal German affair. The U.S. had impaired its ability to act against aggression by passing a neutrality law that prohibited material assistance to all parties in foreign conflicts. In September 1938 Hitler threatened war to annex the western border area of Czechoslovakia, the Sudetenland and its 3.5. million ethnic Germans (Website 2). He created a German Air Force. Germany invaded the Rhineland. France and Britain didn't want to start another war so they let him. Hitler made treaties with Mussolini's Fascist Italy and Japan. Hitler first took back the land lost. The first country he took was Austria and then he promised to stop expansion. He did not keep his promise and took over the Sudetenland of Czechoslovakia. Hitler made a pact with Stalin called the Nazi-Soviet Pact. It promised not to attack each other if they were at war with another country.
Japan wanted to be equal with France, Britain, and Germany for expansion. Japan wanted to conquer China but America wouldn't let that happen. They attacked America and Hitler was very angry with decision but he declared war publicly on America. Hitler conquered Italy but the Russians invaded Poland and America nuked Japan which hurt the Axis powers. This led to the downfall of Germany's and Japan's plan for expansion.
African Americans were fighter pilots and escorted bombers to their targets and back. This played a huge part in World War II for the allied powers but it is not talked about much. - FUN FACT (:
